RAM necessities will be mostly based on the desktop environment itself than the distro A system without GUI consumes less than 200 MB usually lowest I got was 80 I tried KDE Plasma under 4GB and it worked fine but if you re unsure about the performance of Plasma maybe you can try a distro with the Cinnamon desktop or lightweight desktops like XFCE and This in combination with more demanding workloads over all and operating systems in general wanting more resources 4GB of RAM can become quite the stretch You might have heard the jokes about chrome using insane amounts of RAM Combine this with maybe Spotify open an antivirus and maybe Word this will load out the 4GB pretty good

4GB is right on the hairy edge of being not good enough Depends a lot on what you want to do with it If you have performance issues you can try a lighter desktop environment I ve found KDE to be a little more responsive without giving up any modern features Something like xfce is very light but feels outdated The main idea I like about Pro is the 120Hz Promotion and 6GB RAM 14 Pro also looks like an option but I saw many complaints about the battery performance longevity and it doesn t have USB C so I m thinking of just getting Iphone 13 to last me couple of years though 4GB is holding me back so that s why I m thinking about the Pro and then upgrade to 16 Pro in 3 4 years
